Blow me down

Well, you could have blown me down with a feather. On January 14th I received an unexpected email from the British Association of Sport & Exercise Sciences (BASES). Way back last summer, BASES had entered me into a competition organised by the UK Science Council. The competition was to find the 'Top 100' practicing scientists in the UK. Of course, I was very flattered to be nominated, but with every science organisation in the UK nominating their best people, I had absolutely no expectation of making it into the 'Top 100'. Imagine my surprise, and delight, when I did. What a great start to 2014 for me! For further information about the competition, please visit the Science Council website.
